Flag description: Three equal horizontal bands of yellow (top), blue, and red with the coat of arms on the hoist side of the yellow band and an arc of eight white five-pointed stars centered in the blue band.
The flag retains the three equal horizontal bands and three main colors of the banner of Gran Columbia, the South American republic that broke up in 1830.
Yellow is interpreted as standing for the riches of the land, blue for the courage of its people, and red for the blood shed in attaining independence.
The seven stars on the original flag represented the seven provinces in Venezuela that united in the war of independence.
In 2006, an eighth star was added to the star arc.

Descripción de la Bandera: Tres bandas horizontales de igual tamaño de color amarillo, azul y rojo, con el escudo de armas al extremo derecho de la banda amarilla;
y un arco de ocho estrellas (cada una de cinco puntas) centrado en la banda azul. La bandera mantiene las tres bandas horizontales iguales y sus tres colores de la bandera original
de la Gran Colombia, unión de países suramericanos que se dividió en 1.830. El amarillo representa las riquezas de la tierra venezolana; el azul, el coraje de su gente; y el rojo,
la sangre derramada por sus libertadores en la guerra de independencia. Siete de las estrellas en el arco de estrellas, representan las siete provincias que se unieron para luchar
en la independencia. En el año 2.006, se añadió una octava estrella a dicho arco.
